Is someone trying to get my account banned?

Almost certainly not — indiscriminate spam is far more likely.

This theory circulates on Reddit, and while Instagram does act on inauthentic activity, bot farms follow at enormous scale without targeting individuals. The far more common explanation is that you were simply in the path.

Will this get me shadowbanned?

Receiving unsolicited followers is not itself a violation.

The measurable effect is on your engagement rate, since a larger follower base that never engages lowers the ratio. That is worth fixing, but it is not a penalty.

Should I make a new account?

Rarely worth it.

Starting over discards every real follower and all your posting history. Removing the bot accounts and continuing to post is almost always the better trade.
